Volunteering at the American Red Cross offers college students a dynamic and impactful service opportunity. As a volunteer, there are two positions available: 1- blood donor ambassador and 2- interpreter. Students will join a compassionate and dedicated community focused on providing essential humanitarian aid and support to those in need. Participants will engage in a wide range of activities, from disaster response and blood drives to health and safety education initiatives. Applegate Homecare and Hospice
Applegate HomeCare & Hospice is a local, family-owned Utah company that has been providing high-quality health care services to our community for over 30 years. We have seven branches servicing the Wasatch Front, Summit County, Box Elder County, Davis County, Wasatch County, Morgan County, and Southern Utah. Students will provide companionship to people living in assisted living, private homes, or subacute living facility. May also help with respite care.” Volunteers should plan to complete 2-3 hours a week”.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Utah
Students interested in this opportunity will need to be willing to make a one-year commitment with Big Brothers Big Sisters. A one-year commitment will help establish stability between the children and the program. It will also have a positive impact on the children’s emotional well-being with will help improve their overall health and development.
Students must to commit to 2 to 4 visits per week at a minimum and no more than 4 hours per week. Students will be responsible for engaging in activities that are based on the child’s needs. Students will also be required to submit to a screening and background check and participate in training. Tues – Saturday 9 AM – 5 PM.

Camp Hobé
At Camp Hobé programs, participants have the opportunity to rediscover self-confidence and build meaningful friendships. Participants of all ages make lifelong friends that understand the devastating effects of a frightening disease.
PROGRAMS
Camp Hobé currently offers three summer camp programs during the summer and at least 2 family outings during the off-season:
Day Camp / Hobe’ Juniors camp session: A two-day session for 4 to 6 year olds
Kids Camp (also called Kids Week) session: A five-day overnight session for 7 to 11 year olds
Teen Camp (also called Teen Week) session: A five-day overnight session for 12 to 19 year olds
Family outing program: Free family outings are offered during the fall and winter, so the whole family can bond with others. Family outings may include events such as hockey matches, basketball games, carnival events, and movie premieres.
SUMMER CAMP ACTIVITIES
During the summer camp sessions, campers may participate in a variety of activities with their cabin groups, as individuals, and with the entire camp:

Hobé Forever is an optional “guided” activity offered during the camp session where campers have time to remember friends who are not present that year. This activity allows campers the opportunity to express feelings of grief and loss if they desire. Camp staff members respect any requests for further counseling or discussion.

Kesem’s national staff of over 30 professionals is involved in all aspects of establishing and supporting each of our 100+ chapters nationwide as well as the training and oversight of all college student leaders. Students interested in this service-learning learning opportunity will work with staff members of the Catholic Thrift Store and assist with a variety of tasks including: receiving donations, sorting/washing clothes, cleaning toys, testing electronics, and run the cash registers.
Students will need to fill out an application and meet with a store manager to determine where you will be utilized best. Volunteers need to be 18 or older to apply.

Students interested in this service learning opportunity will help in the Family Support Center which is a small crisis respite nursery for children ages birth through eleven. The main goal of the center is to protect children and strengthen the family. A clean, safe environment is essential for the healthy development of children.
Students will be able to participate in a variety of tasks including organizing, assembling educational material, and cleaning toys.

Memory Matters Utah
Volunteering with Memory Matters provides college students with a meaningful opportunity to make a difference in the lives of individuals affected by memory-related issues and their caregivers. This organization is dedicated to offering support, resources, and services to those dealing with memory loss disorders. As volunteers, students may engage in various activities such as assisting in support groups, participating in recreational programs, and helping with administrative tasks. Needs Beyond Medicine
The internship allows students to both collaborate with team members and work independently as a representative of Needs Beyond Medicine. There are two volunteer opportunities: 1- Health educator and 2- Marketing and Communication. See below for each volunteer description.

Health Educator / Public Health Administration Volunteer Position:
We are seeking a proactive, mission-driven individual to assist in the development and delivery of our public health initiatives. This role is ideal for a student or recent graduate looking for substantive experience in nonprofit administration and community health education.
Key Responsibilities
– Develop Educational Materials: Create high-impact pamphlets, brochures, and digital resources to inform patients about early detection and available support services.
– Facilitate Workshops: Assist in the planning and execution of seminars covering vital topics such as nutrition, stress management, and coping strategies for cancer survivors.
– Community Outreach: Represent Needs Beyond Medicine in digital and local spaces to raise awareness of our Relief Program and resources.
Qualifications

Red Rock Center for Independence
Students interested in this service-learning opportunity will have the chance to serve people of all ages with different types of disabilities. Studies have shown that individuals with disabilities are at a higher risk of developing chronic disease (CDC, 2013). Most of these chronic diseases including: hypertension, depression, and obesity are preventable. Students will be able to give support to these individuals and play a role in preventing future chronic diseases.
Students will have a range of responsibilities including: helping in the office by filing papers and data entry, building wheelchair ramps, communicating with individuals with disabilities, and other projects they need help with. We also need help with our youth programming.
Background check may be needed and driving certificate if duties include driving.
RISE
RISE is a non-profit program that works with people with disabilities that have grown out of the school system. Our mission is to create opportunities for and with people. We help our clients lead meaningful lives by working with them to create and work toward specific goals, engage in the community, and build relationships.
Day Program Volunteer:
Our Day Programs runs from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. We are able to help our clients engage in educational, creative, and fun activities and events, and to participate as active members in our community. We need volunteers to run activities and projects, or to help with those that have been previously scheduled. There is a lot of flexibility in this area. This can be done on a one-time basis, or according to a fixed schedule.
Supply/Material Donation Drive:
This volunteer opportunity is made for those who would like to help others, but are more interested in networking, organizing, and working behind the scenes. This drive will be created and run by you, or a group of volunteers, who would like gain experience in organizing and leading. We are able to assist with ideas, networking, and other needs, but you are able to take the lead on this. Southwest Utah Public Health Department - Language Strike Team
The Southwest Utah Public Health Department is coordinating the formation of a Language Strike Team. The purpose of this team is to provide interpretation services in the event of a large-scale or mass-casualty disaster or local emergency. We need volunteers fluent in a second language to register with the Medical Reserve Corps for Southwest Utah at utahresponds.org to become a member of the team and participate in an occasional training meeting. St. George Children's Museum
The St. George Children’s Museum has three volunteer opportunities: 1- Art Helper, 2- Craftivity Helper, and 3- Tinkerlab Helper. See below for descriptions for each volunteer opportunity:
As a Make Art Helper, you will:

As a Craftivity Helper, you will:

UT Tech STEM Outreach
At the UT Stem Outreach Center, we create engaging and impactful educational STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) experiences for K-12 students in Southern Utah. Students are introduced to activities designed to expand their thinking and vision of science, technology, engineering, and math with a critical thinking and maker-based focus. DOVE Center
DOVE Center provides a variety of services to those who have experienced domestic violence or sexual assault. DOVE Center offers emergency shelter, transitional housing, case management, therapy, advocacy, and other essential services. DOVE Center also offers educational seminars free of charge to community, civic, and religious groups to cover the basics of domestic violence and sexual assault; provide information to dispel dangerous myths, including victim blaming myths; and talk about our services, how to get help, how to get involved, and some healthy relationship basics as well.
A one year commitment is required of all volunteers, visit the trainings website for information on trainings required of all volunteers. Volunteers at DOVE Center will need to pass a background check and complete a 40 hour advocate training. That training could be different based on the volunteer role they are interested in.
Available volunteer roles at DOVE Center are:
- HART (Hospital Advocacy Response Team) – Volunteers will sign up for 2-hour on call shifts. Volunteers will provide support, advocacy, and help with paperwork associated with the SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) exam performed at the local hospital.
- Shelter Support – Volunteers provide support to the on staff resident advocates. They will perform tasks like sanitizing, inventory, cleaning, organizing etc.
- Child Care – DOVE Center provides evening groups Monday through Thursday every week with child care. Providing childcare removes barriers to clients seeking healing and supports staff onsite providing the services.
- Phone Support – Volunteers will be at our outreach office providing support for phone calls and walk-in clients/donations.
- We also have various events throughout the year that we table. There may be opportunities for current volunteers to help with those events and talk about DOVE or raise awareness.

Five County AOG – Circles Program
The Circles Program is an effective poverty reduction initiative that revolves around building intentional relationships across income lines. Community members can join Circles to participate in an 18-month mentoring program with weekly meetings. Circles works with families to escape generational poverty by offering programing for both parents and children. Weekly evening meetings start with a meal first
then the parents and children break up to their own groups. All children’s programming is provided as weekly lesson modules for volunteers to follow and implement. Volunteers will help implement the curriculum and promote the children’s development.

The Sharing Place
The Sharing Place is a childhood grief support program that has been providing services to grieving children of Utah for over 30 years. Starting in the fall of 2025 the services will now be offered in Washington County, at our new space in downtown Santa Clara. Volunteers working directly with children will need to pass a background and attend a training to be prepared to support grieving children. The commitment is two evenings per month between September and May. In addition to volunteers working directly with children, we are seeking support in the form of local business partnerships, referrals of grieving families, supply drives, and other various projects on site.
